Dollface [Chapter Five]

Tiny and I ran through the desert, it was flat and endless like a plane. Instantly I felt like I was in a geometrical nightmare, for the ground went on and on in every direction, forever. Every once in a while Tiny and I would pass a shrub or a bit of cactus. We'd also see a lizard or snake scurry by. We just kept marching toward the giant moon and the big purple-reddish planets off in the distance. They were so massive that it looked like they were hovering only feet from the horizon.
I looked back at Tiny, who still hadn't made a sound since we first met, I watched as the behemoth just marched alongside me, each massive step crushing the ground below it.
"So, Tiny..." I said trying to extract some kind of conversation out of the giant. "What were you doing out near the woods?"
We walked side by side still, it took me about seven steps to match one of Tiny's. Tiny made no sound, just continued to march.
Left foot.
Crush.
Right foot.
Crush.
Left foot.
Crush.
Right foot.
Crush.
Then Tiny exhaled. I didn't notice the small tube extending out of the top of Tiny's back, facing upwards, into the night's sky, until the eruption of steam came billowing out of it. The burst sounded like a geyser, and looked similar to it as well. The steam drained out for about ten seconds and then abruptly stopped.
"What was that?" I asked Tiny, the sudden explosion of sound had startled me. Still there was no answer only the left foor right foot crushing against the cold desert sand.
"You know what, Tiny?" I asked trying to start another conversation. "I'm not too sure why you decided to start following me, or why you saved me, but I thank you." I looked forward into the night, the only light, the moon and Tiny's face-light. "Because you know, I've never had too many friends, I've been a really 'to myself' kind of person. I've never been one to go out and make friends, or even defend myself when I've needed to."
Left foot.
Crush.
Right foot.
Crush.
"You know, it's just so hard to be an obstacle, I mean it's so much easier to just go with the flow, have people do what they will to you. This is probably one of the fews things I've ever fought for, finding Abbi I mean."
It was then that Tiny began to sing. At first I thought Tiny was going to expel an enormous amount of steam again, but instead it sounded like a whale. The sound was the only fitting sound I could see the giant making, and so it wasn't too much of a surprise.
I nodded my head.
"I don't know what that means, Tiny. But I'm glad you finally decided to speak up." Then Tiny raised one of it's massive hands, extending the index finger. Tiny pointed off into the distance. I looked.
I saw miniature buildings sticking up from the ground a million miles away. They looked like tiny pieces of grass sticking out of the barren landscape.
Tiny sang again, and lowered it's hand. I started walking faster to catch up with it. Tiny was practically running at this point. I ran with all my might just to try and keep pace with the ever increasing speed of Tiny's massive steps. The ground shook under their weight.
Tiny started getting further and further ahead of me, I pushed myself harder and harder to catch up, but no matter how hard I tried the gap was extending between us. I had to stop, to catch my breath. I figured, there wasn't anything else in this desert but the view, and Tiny was massive--not very hard to miss no matter how far ahead of me it was. I stood there, my arms up and over my head, my hands holding onto the back of my head, breathing sporadically.
I watched as Tiny continued to run into the distance, the crashing of the feet could still be felt in my heels. Then Tiny leaped into the air and crashed into the sky. A gigantic crack appeared where Tiny had met the sky, as if it were a wall. Tiny fell onto it's back, the ground shaking beneath the weight. I kept my slow pace, still gasping for air, towards Tiny. I was afraid Tiny had lost it's mind. It was then that the moon fell from the sky and landed next to Tiny on the desert floor and where it used to sit was a sign, "Pompey Welcomes You".
"Son of a Bitch." I said smiling. Tiny had found the entrance to Pompey. But I watched as the moon started rolling around next to Tiny, light bouncing off of it like a disco ball. Tiny rolled onto it's feet and balled it's fists. The moon rolled into Tiny, knocking Tiny over. Then the moon rolled on top of Tiny who, in turn, kicked the moon off of itself.
Tiny rolled onto it's feet again and ran towards the moon, slamming it's shoulder into the massive ball. The moon cracked, I felt the concussion from the hit, it knocked me to my feet. The moon, that stood more than five times as big as Tiny broke into a thousand pieces. As each of the pieces hit the sand they sizzled and turned to smoke. But a majority of the massive sphere remained intact, and it tried rolling Tiny over again.
I watched as Tiny dove out of the way, rolling onto the cold sand. Tiny got to it's feet as the moon rolled past it, and bent over, one hand touching the sand below. A loud popping sound came from Tiny and I watched as a trail of bright white light shot out of the tube extending from Tiny's back. The trial collided with the moon and exploded, shards of illuminated moon rock fell to the sand again. The moon stooped rolling around, Tiny ran towards it.
I watched as Tiny jumped into the hole it had just shot into the moon's surface. The moon started rolling around, as if it were trying to wiggle Tiny out of itself. Then it stopped, and I watched Tiny jump out from it and run towards me. I back up slowly, I feared that maybe Tiny had lost it and was now coming to kill me. Tiny's run didn't slow as it got closer and closer to me, so I did the only thing I could think of.
I ran.
Even though I knew it was pointless I still ran. Within seconds Tiny scooped me up and cradled me in it's arms. I heard a loud crashing sound, and then I felt the smash. It knocked Tiny over and we skidded across the sand.

Silence.

Silence.

Silence.

Tiny let go of me and stood up. I opened my eyes, I was covered in sand. I spit out a mouthful of it and got to my feet. I saw the moon, now a burning heap of melting light. Tiny sang again and marched toward the moon, slow enough for me to keep up with. As we walked toward the moon I saw the behind it was a pair of enormous double door. They were the entrance to Pompey, no doubt.
